Code of Conduct

Baila District Code of Conduct

At Baila District, we strive to foster a welcoming, safe, and respectful community for all dancers, instructors, staff, and guests. The following Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for everyone in our space—during classes, socials, performances, and off-site events hosted by Baila District.

1. Respect & Inclusion

  • Treat everyone—students, staff, and guests—with respect, kindness, and courtesy.

  • Discrimination or harassment based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, religion, body type, dance level, or any other identity will not be tolerated.

  • Our dance floor is for everyone. Respect people’s boundaries and identities.

2. Consent is Key

  • Always ask before engaging in close contact or using styling that involves touching (e.g., body rolls, dips, close embrace).

  • It's okay to say “no” to a dance or to set boundaries. Respect every person's decision without question or guilt.

  • If someone says "no," accept it gracefully. If you say "no," consider doing it with care and kindness.

  • Verbal or non-verbal cues about discomfort must be respected immediately.

3. Professional Boundaries

  • Instructors and staff should maintain clear, professional relationships with current students.

  • While romantic relationships may occur, we discourage patterns of repeated involvement with students. If a relationship develops, it must be consensual and handled with transparency and care to avoid conflicts of interest.

  • If concerns arise about instructor-student relationships, they may be reviewed by management to ensure fairness and professionalism.

4. Safety & Accountability

  • Help keep our space physically and emotionally safe. Everyone shares responsibility for maintaining a safe and respectful environment.

  • If you witness inappropriate, unsafe, or harassing behavior—whether from community members or outsiders—please speak up or report it.

  • You can contact staff directly or submit an anonymous report using this form:

5. Reporting & Response

  • All reports are taken seriously. Action will be based on the nature and severity of the incident and may include a conversation, warning, suspension, or removal from the community.

  • We do not tolerate retaliation against individuals who report concerns in good faith.

6. Events & Representation

  • If you represent Baila District as a performer, instructor, or volunteer, your actions reflect on the community.

  • Professionalism, timeliness, and courtesy are expected at all affiliated events.

This Code of Conduct applies to all Baila District activities. By participating in our community, you agree to uphold these values and help foster a culture of respect, learning, and joy.

For any questions or to discuss concerns confidentially, please contact a staff member or email us directly.
