Salsa Spins & Turns Technique Series with Deanne and Harrison
Spins are one of the most challenging—and most essential—elements of salsa partnerwork. This technique-focused series is designed to help dancers build clean, controlled, and confident spins that actually work in social dancing.
In this class, we break down the fundamentals of spinning in partnerwork, focusing on body mechanics, balance, posture, spotting, and momentum. Dancers will learn how spins are created, supported, and maintained through proper technique rather than force or speed. We’ll explore both lead and follow responsibilities, helping partners create smoother, safer, and more enjoyable turns together.
Expect detailed drills, progressive exercises, and practical partnerwork applications that translate directly to the social dance floor. This is not about learning flashy patterns—it’s about understanding how spinning works so everything else feels easier and cleaner.
This class is ideal for:
Dancers who feel unstable, rushed, or dizzy during turns
Leads who want to create clearer, lighter spins
Follows who want more control, balance, and confidence
Anyone looking to refine technique and level up their partnerwork
What to expect:
Fundamentals of spin technique and alignment
Balance, core engagement, and spotting exercises
Partner connection and turn mechanics
Drills you can practice outside of class
A supportive, detail-oriented learning environment
Recommended for dancers with basic to intermediate salsa fundamentals.
